I am currently enjoying reading “High Sobriety” by Jill Stark.

It is an opportunity to reflect on my 26 years of drinking habits … not all bad but not all good either!  Jill has a great discussion in the book on the Australian drinking culture and things that influence our drinking.

A great read for anyone interested in learning how it is for the non drinkers we socialise with.  Or, anyone wanting to reflect on their relationship with alcohol which Jill does in a very honest way.  A positive and funny read from which I have learnt to be more comfortable with saying no to alcohol and more comfortable with accepting others not wanting to drink.

Jill says so much that needs to be said as she transitions from the shoes of a life-of-the-party heavy drinker of over 20 years to teetotaler for a year.

I am now off to research if there are any non-alcoholic venues in which to socialise.
